TAG Comics, one of Nigeria’s fastest growing publishers has put out a call for writers who’d love to turn their stories into comics.

TAG shared this on social media with two simple questions.

  1. Do you have a gushy, mushy, scandalous fictional love story?
  2. Do you want to turn your story into a comic?

If you answered yes to both, all you have to do is submit your story to stories@tagcomics.com and wait. The team will review and shortlist their favortie stories and start working with you.

The major requirements are that you have a story that resonates with an African audience.

African stories are underrepresented in the media, our goal is to increase this exponentially over the next 5 years. This is why our preference is for African writers.

Deadline for submission is February 26th, 2021 and the shortlisted writers will be notified by March 1st, 2021.

Asked why TAG Comics was doing this, CEO Morakinyo Araoye had this to say:

We are trying to create an industry for these writers where they get to see their stories/visions/dreams come to life. They also get to make money and become part of us.

Some of the comics TAG has published so far include Dafe, Friends and all of Mishima, Kpakow, Legend of Yasuke, Field of Champions, Danfo (which won the graphic novel category of the Nommo Awards for Speculative Fiction last year) and more. Check out more comics from TAG over at their website.

Think you’ve got it in you to write stories as good as what TAG Comics has published so far? Go for it. Remember, send your stories to stories@tagcomics.com.

Happy writing and an awesome 2021 to you.
