Post-Val’s Day Blues: Art from the Heart

February 14th is recognized around the world as St. Valentine’s Day or Val’s Day for short. It is a day set aside for love in honour of Valentine, a priest who depending on which story you believe, was either killed for blessing marriages in spite of Emperor Claudius II’s decree or killed for helping Christian prisoners escape harsh Roman prisons and consequently falling in love with his jailor’s daughter.

Val’s Day has evolved over the years into one where red, the colour of passion  is everywhere, chocolate becomes the de facto meal and wine a preferred substitute for quenching thirst.

It is also a day when artists bring out their big creative guns and either shoot down cupid – the angel of love and patron Val’s Day messenger with pure humor and wit or show what it means to receive love and adoration on the day. This year was no different and social media was full of marvelous art the whole world must see and heart.

We compiled a few we caught on our radars, from comics to digital illustrations to animation off Instagram we think you’ll totally love. Most of these will make your hearts melt, bring back lovely memories and keep believing in love. Be warned though, some of them will you make you cry.

Kindly show some love to the artists by following them, liking their art and sharing on your platforms.

Belated happy Val’s day! ❤️
