Following last month’s announcement of the pitch competition partnership between DISCOP, the African Animation Network and Annecy International Animation Film Festival & Market, Digital Lab Africa has been confirmed as the partner for the Animation Transmedia category of the inaugural Annecy-MIFA Pitches Animation du Monde in the continent.

As part of the agreement, the best overall transmedia project will receive an automatic entry to Digital Lab Africa’s second pitch competition final, DLA#2, which will be held at DISCOP Abidjan 2018.

This will grant the project a chance at winning DLA prize money and a tailored mentorship course with leading French experts and companies in the transmedia field.
DLA’s top Animation du Monde transmedia project will be selected after the Grande Finale at DISCOP Johannesburg and may be chosen independently of its placement in the general competition.

Last year saw the inception of this digital project pitch contest with DLA#1. Ayodele Elegba of Nigeria won the transmedia category with his animated web series concept, Area Daddy.

As part of the DLA mentorship program, he will take up residency in France this June and will attend the Annecy Festival & Market as part of the MIFA Campus program, and will speak on the panel, The African Challenge: How to Spot and Support Africa’s Talent, moderated by Frédéric Chambon.

Submissions are open now for the Annecy-MIFA Pitches Animation du Monde competition, which begins at DISCOP Abidjan this year. Submissions can be made here. A call for entries for DLA#2 will open at DISCOP Johannesburg 2017.
